After reading Wes MacDonald's blog about Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate being available, I thought VERY COOL! I'll just uninstall my VS 2010 Beta 2 and then wait for the general availability of RC on MSDN TechNet, awesome. Then I looked at the Windows Programs and Features........in the immortal words of Wall-E........WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What you see there is 28 individual pieces of software applications/programs/wrappers/stubs/etc that VS 2010 Beta 2 installed for me. WTF??????? You GOTTA be kidding me?!?!?!?! WTF? I REALLY hope I don't have to go through one by one and unistall them individually??!?!?!?!??!!?!
HHMMM I'll try googling....uh, Bing-ing to see if I can find anything (that's NOT beta 1 uninstalls. HHHMMMM Here's the link..... Really only ONE link with useful information, and even then it's only his experience. Disappointing, very disappointing.
Now that I know I'm NOT going to start this tonight, it's time to grab a coffee and get coding.

Re: Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 Uninstall
Wow... and to think 99% of my "uninstalls" with OSX are just me deleting a SINGLE "app bundle" file... small thing, but as we've discussed, there are just TOO many small things that have really opened my eyes... :)

Re: Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 Uninstall
"eyes open wide shut"??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I find my frustration level with VS 2010 is growing exponentially lately. Too much emphasis on TFS and not on coding enhancements! Too much emphasis on "the whole package" when there are a lot more users out there (IMHO) using SVN and have their OWN policies/procedures in place for building/deploying/managing labs. Most (aka 100%, ya, ALL!) of the material I'm reading for VS 2010 is about TFS. To me, that's the wrong focus and sends the wrong message. But then again, who am I? Just a lowly developer. Where's Ballmer dancing when you need him?

Re: Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 Uninstall
Agreed, there's nothing helpful on t'Interweb about uninstalling Beta2. There is a severe lack of "Visual" in the development side of forms - where is my form designer GUI? ):-| So I uninstalled all the individual components (very frustrating) as I could not just uninstall VBX in the hopes that I could install my old VS.net... No. Not only has this brown loaf afflicted my mood, it's also afflicted my computer. WHY, Microsoft, must you release something without offering a simple removal solution?
GRRR!

Re: Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 Uninstall
Hey 5hr4pnl3l (is that 3l33t code?), ya, there's a lack of information out there, which is kind of why I did this one. Not sure if you found it, but I have another blog on the night following this one.
Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 Uninstall (Take 2) http://www.pchenry.com/Home/tabid/36/EntryID/235/Default.aspx
But since you've gone through one by one ALREADY (DOH! you're a much more patient person than I LOL), it'll have limited usefulness.
I too was frustrated with MS for this. I'm going through it right now with the WP7 tools installs. Similar respin to this, uninstall last ver before installing current ver. I'm hoping when they release the final WP7 version in two weeks, it'll be able to handle pre-existing tool installs.....ya, you stop laughing now! hahahah LOL I doubt I'll trust it neither, I'll probably uninstall everything juuuuuuuuuuuust to be on the safe side!
Thank you for the comment, I hope you get your dev box back up'n'running asap, and have a good long weekend!
