Cell phonesAre you a programmer?  Chances are, you, well.... you are if you're reading this blog! HAHA LOL  But in all seriousnes, the question about "what's the next big thing" is just as valid as it was last year or ten years ago!

Check this out, Apple's about to release their iPad after much bru-haha, and after two years of HUGE iPhone success, Microsoft's going on two years of pushing WPF/SL and it's starting to get traction (ok, arguably, so, but it is getting more trade-rag reporting).  Also WP7 is about to be released.  MANY more details are coming out at Mix 2010 in Vegas (MAN, I'd love to be there!).  So!  The question is, what's the next big thing?

electronista - gadgets for geeksWell, if you as electronista, they'll be able to tell you the mobile market segment is going to grow over 800% by 2013!!!!  That's three years man!  WOW!  That's.....just.............WOW!!!!!!!!!  800%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So, I ask you again, and I'm serious, please leave your comments, where are you going to be spending your efforts, both personal and professional?  Are you going to do iPhone development, or maybe WP7?  What about WinForms or WPF or Silverlight?

Now that I've thrown that out there for discussions, it's time to grab a coffee and get coding!

Re: What's the next big thing?

Everything I've seen/heard/read about the iPad leads me to believe it's lame. But it will no doubt be a huge hit.

The one huge potential I believe it has is the "instant on" capabilities I've seen with the Touch and from other people with iPhones. After I returned my Touch, opening up my netbook to simply check email was PAINFULLY SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!! NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASTY! BBs are also likewise awesome too I might add!

re lame
That's one person's call. What I think is lamer (if that's a word) is MS coming to this market so late. That really ticks me off. I'm growing very anxious and excited about WP7 announcements all next week with regards to devlopment on the Windows Phone 7!!!! My fear is it'll miss the mark and I'll be back to the iPhone. Why "fear" cause I have such high hopes for MS and WP7. I also enjoy using Visual Studio and C#!

Thanks for the comment Darklight! Much appreciated!
