MIX 2010 vidsI read about the news first tonight from Colin Melia's Tweets about WP7 NOT having copy'n'paste.  At first I was thinking "OH NO! MS Say it isn't so????????"  Then I got more confirmation from engadget, and it's true.  OH no!

Well, is it such a bit deal?  When I used my Apple Touch, the cut'n'paste functions were new as well (Apple's iPhone OS didn't have cut'n'paste when it was released neither).  The other thing is, well, they were a bit cumbersome to use with the pointing, holding, moving/nudging, magnifying glass, Select All or moving the beging/end pointers to select.......it was a time consuming to say the least.

What REALLY matters instead is the how WP7 natively handles datatypes.  What I mean is, does it always correctly recognize when it sees a phone number and let's you dial it as well as save the contact information?  Will it automagically recognize a web page address and make it a hyperlink?  Will it recognize names (ya, I think that one's gonna be tricky too) and let you add a new contact?  Will it recognize birthdays and let you add Calendar Events?  These are all datatypes which I found myself cutting'n'pasting with the Touch.

Now if WP7 can properly and accurately recognize different datatypes and give me extended functionality with them, then I have to ask...what else do you really need to copy'n'paste for?

Now that's out in the open, it's time to grab a coffee and get coding!
