Want to focus more on your UX in Blend? Check out this nifty new trick!

Are you looking to uber focus on your cool new UX in Blend?  Read on for the fastest trick to do that (and to get back once you're ready to come up for air).

If you're doing user interface/UI/UX design in Blend, chances are, you're looking at something smilar to this (milage may vary, but the overall look is similar).  The Toolbox on extreme left, Projects tab most likely selected beside that, then the design time UI and XAML in the middle, and the Properties, Resources and Data tabs on the far right.

Blend Window

One of Dell's 30Unless you're lucky enough to have a 30" LCD screen, chances are pretty good you're doing the Splitter Panel Dance and moving splitters back'n'forth making room for what ever area you want to zone in on.  Before you know it, you're all screwed up and totally lost.

WELL!  I have a solution for you!  And for all you laptop people out there doing Blend demos, listen up, you will be able to stop the Splitter Dance forever after you read this!

Check out Blends AutoHide All Panels feature in the Window menu (or hit F4 or TAB).

Blend Window

Once you do that, you'll shrink everything on the far left and right (no more toolbox and properties).  POOF!  Gone.  Time to focus on your design!  VOILA!

AutoHide All Panels turned on

Check that out!  Beautiful!  "BUT PETER!!!!!!!!!!  What about when I want to get back to setting properties or anything else which you've just taken away from me?"  Great question!

Check this out!  There are two things you can do.  Either hit TAB or F4 again (it's a toggle) or under the same Window menu, there's a Reset Current Workspace option, click that (or press CTRL+ SHIFT + R).  BOOM!  Back to where you started from!

AutoHide All Panels turned on

Isn't that cool?!?!?!?  So now, if you can memorize those keyboard shortcuts (and you can't tell me TAB is hard to remember?), you too can focus on the exact task at hand on any size monitor/LCD you have!

Now that you know how to focus on your own development, it's time to grab a coffee and get coding!
