Ottawa Code Camp renamed to Ottawa ID DaysFor the last two years, the ODNC has hosted the Ottawa Code Camp and this week, the 2010 date has been informally announced along with a name change to better reflect the local market's focus.  Read on for some details.

Are you familiar with the Ottawa Code Camp held at Algonquin College over the past two years?  It's a FANTASTIC way to start off the spring with a full day of free technical seminars given by members of your local community!  Well, the date for the 2010 version is going to be formally announced shortly (but I have the drop on that to give you LOL) as well as a name change to better reflect the focus for the local community.

First, the date is April 17th at Algonquin College! The date's been confirmed with Algonquin and is solid! All that's left to do is organize it. Uh, ya, no small task for the organizers I know, but they've done fantastic in the past two years, and I for one, am looking for another great year!  You just have to register, show up and soak in all the great information!

Next is the conference's name change!  The old "Code Camp" name reflected the "code first", "free", "all code, all the time" and PPT-free zone! :>  But those pseudo definitions didn't lend themselves to a lot of people involved in the event.  That wasn't fair, and the organizers decided to include the other involved interest's right from the get go, and that means a name change!  Therefore......

Ottawa IT Day! (yup, logo to come) = Ottawa.NET Community User Group+Ottawa Windows Server User Group+OttawaSQL.NET

That means, right from the name, everyone's equal, everyone's interests are taken into account, and everyone's able to benefit!  Devs, Support and DBAs, everyone's going to be taken care of at this conference!  Bits'n'bytes, geeks, tech heads, nerds, we're all a bit too friendly with our LCDs, NICs, SQL, ASP, XAML, WPF, SL, TLAs...we're all trying to learn, same goal, same objective!

What?  You want more details?  HAHA!  I thought you might.  This could be a bit of premature, but here are the tracks the organizers are working on filling speakers with!  Hey, if you have an idea for a presentation you want to give, give the organizers an email (I can help you there) and I'm sure they'd love to hear from you.  So far, there are four tracks planned.
  1. I am a .NET Designer
  2. I am a Microsoft IT guy
  3. I love SQL Server
  4. Silverlight Saturday
So there you go!  Mark April 17th on your calendar and keep a close eye out for when the registration sites goes live, easiest way to ensure you're in! And it usually gets you a lunch too (I hope we get that again this year haha).  In today's economy, what better way is there to get a WHOLE day of FREE training?!
