Focus pricingRogers DID talk about their WP7 Samsung Focus today, it announced pre-release and pricing details.  Read on for more info.

Focus pricingThe last week hasn't been kind to Rogers.  They DID kind of deserve it though, I mean, they dropped the ball IMHO, didn't publish ANYTHING, didn't tell anyone what was going on with regards to WP7, the Samsung Focus nor gave any details about inventory or availability.  BUT, with everyone expressing their opinions over the last week and weekend, I think we FINALLY got someone's attention!  GOOD!

Why?  Cause today, they announced pre-releases and started talking about prices!  The screen cap on the right is directly from their webpage.

So?!  What are the details.  If you are like me and interested in buying the phone straight up, it'll cost you (and me) $600, with a one year contract or going month to month $550 and then down to $200 if you opt in for three years.

The only thing I didn't like today was, and to be honest, the only reason I didn't order mine today was cause this process wasn't quite thought through all the way and that concerned me a bit, well, $600 worth to be exact.

Once you pick your initial terms, then your Voice plan,

Rogers Voice Plans

You then pick your data plan.

Rogers Data Plans

Can you SEE the problem there?  Uh........which plan do I pick (click on image for larger view)?  I figured they'd have THIS problem figured out tonight, but nope, it's still like this tonight.

A coworker picked a different route through the Rogers offerings, starting with the monthly fees and he was able to see this option for the Data Plans.

Rogers Monthly Data Plans

Click on the image, the REAL issue is in the details.... Can you see it......  Look at the Device Type?  BlackBerry?  Huh?  I was hoping for WP7, but expecting to see Smartphone.  Also, look at the Data package/limits.  There are none!  Huh?  Unlimited?  YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Ya, I didn't think so, not on your life!  LOL HAHA

Ok, ok, I know, I know.  This is the first day and Roger WILL work out the wrinkles, I know that.  BUT Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'm think'n I'm going to wait until I can pop into a Rogers local reseller on this one!  haha

Now that's out of my system, it's time to grab a coffee and get coding!

YIKES! Ballmer DID that over a year ago? :< Amazing at how things "change" in a year eh? DOH!

I also can't help but notice the Nortel logo over his shoulder. Double DOH! But the 3yr price is a more reasonable 199.

Thanks for leaving a comment Kamran! If this is the same Kamran as I think, if you're interested in a WP7 study group, we're looking at doing one.

Thanks for leaving a comment. Have a good weekend.
