Samsung Focus with Windows Explorer? Are you able to use your HONKING 8/16GB fancy new WP7 phone as a BIG USB Key?  Read on for the the yes, no and maybe!

Samsung Focus with Windows Explorer?Ok, so you've got yourself a FANCY new WP7 smartphone?!  GOOD FOR YOU!  (I'm still waiting for mine! DOH!)  So now you've got this great big massive memory key right?  WHOA THERE PARDNER!  Just cause you THINK you have 8/16GB of memory, doesn't mean you HAVE 8/16GB of memory at your disposal on the other side of that USB cable!

Officially Microsoft DOES NOT support using your WP7 as a USB key.  Will it come in the future?  I have no idea, but I HOPE they will support it in the future!  It only makes sense.  However, the iPhone doesn't allow it neither, but DropBox is a fantastic tool I keep hearing about over and over and over again!  I think people will always find a solution if the demand is great enough.

Same goes for the WP7.  WMPoweruser.com and MobileTechWorld have released similar instructions on how to coax your WP7 to give up at least some of it's memory to act like a memory mule for your data slinging requirements.

Oh, and before you sic the lawyers on my butt, this is in NO way an official hack/cheat/work around/ fix/patch and DOES NOT come with any warrantees/guarantees/support.  You're on your own if you choose to do this.  I can't get a phone for myself let alone try to get you one if you brick it.  Sorry.

Anyways, now that I have a reference point for myself when I DO get my phone, it's time to grab a coffee and get coding!
