Rogers? Really? Look what greets me when I turn on my cell tonight

WHAT is going on?Ok, I know Rogers and I didn't have a good day today, but did I deserve this?!  Confused?  So am I!

WHAT is going on?Ok, for the last month, Rogers and I haven't REALLY been on good terms.  It all started when Microsoft announced November 8th, 2010 as the WORLD RELEASE DATE for their HIGHLY anticipated Windows Phone 7!!!!  Their iPhone competitor!  Their BIG mobile move!  OH MAN!  Was I excited!  You BET I WAS!  COOL!

Bell had a phoneTelus had two.  Rogers was supposed to have one but it was MIA.

Fast forward a few weeks, and I'm trying to get one, BADLY!  So badly, every day after lunch this week, my coworkers tippy-toe by my cubicle cause they know I've been on the phone with Rogers ALL LUNCH HOUR TRYING to get an update on my order.  Today was NOT a good day.  I got hung up on after 20m, then when I call back, after 10m I get transfered to the "wrong" Customer Retention department.  Just how many Customer Retention know what, don't answer that, don't ask questions you don't want answers for right?

At this point, I gave up!  I threw my hands in the air and I said "I'm done, I give up!"

White flag tweet

At this point, I had resolved myself to just giving up and cooling off for a few days.

What I REALLY wanted to do, was greet the UPS delivery person at the door, DROP KICK THE BOX, then return it to the courier and say, "No thank you, wrong colour."  DOH!  That's what I WANT to do, but that would just be cruel.  I've waited THIS long, what's a few days?

Soooooooooooooooo, I just figured, you know what, I've stirred the pot enough on Twitter, Facebook, my blog and probably am one some Roger's "Naughty Customers list", so I figured, I'll just suck it up and wait like a good little peon.  "Do what Rogers tells you cause they know what's best for you."

BUUUUUUUUUT look at what greeted me when I turned on my cell phone tonight!  Does that mean what I think it means?  Yup, can't make/receive any phone calls!  Seriously?  REALLY?!  And just in case you're thinking the bills not paid or something else, don't worry, it's paid and it was working YESTERDAY!

Uncle.  Uncle?  Uncle!  Uncle  Uncle  Uncle  Uncle  Uncle  I give up already, I'll just give up.  I'm tired of fighting, you win.  Even if I do goto Telus with the Optimus 7, I really did want to try the Focus!

Since I can't play with my phone, I'm going to try to play with Visual Studio, I have some TnT blogs I could whip up.  So it's time to grab a coffee and get coding!

PS Rogers DID try to something nice tonight, I did recieve this email link.

Rogers online gift

When I "opened" it, I won this.  I figured I stirred enough of the pot that taking any type of "gift" would just be wrong, so thankfully there was a charitable donation I could make.  Since this was indeed a nice GESTURE, I figured I would take advantage of the opportunity and make another contribution with my partner's account as well.  So in the end, Rogers helped make two United Way donations tonight.  At least SOMETHING positive came out of this.

United Way donation  Email confirmation from Rogers

Bell LG Optimus Quantum

Telus LG Optimus 7 and HTC 7 Surround

Rogers Samsung Focus WP7 Phones go on sale tomorrow, DON'T go to Rogers, they don't have any! Rogers? Rogers? Rogers? My blow by blow account of how Rogers is blowing their WP7 opportunity

I contacted you yesterday on Twitter to try and help - did you receive my DM? If not, I am following you and would need some account information to escalate.

Thank you

Re: Rogers? Really? Look what greets me when I turn on my cell tonight

Hi Elise, thank you for contacting me, here and on Twitter (DM). Early this am, I received an email indicating the package was en route. Right now I'm waiting. POSSIBLY the reason for my, uhm, hiccup last night, was because someone at Rogers saw my email chain, or someone escalated my issue and said "hey, MAKE SURE this guys phone works when the box drops on his desk! Just make it work!" I'm waiting VERY patiently for the courier person.

PS If that "someone at Rogers" was you, PLEASE tell me so I can properly say thank you! I know I was harsh on the phone and in my blogs, but I would also like to think I'm fair. In this case, if someone DID do what I THINK they did, I want to say thank you for TRYING TO HELP! If not, uhmmm....well.... uuhh...let's just say I hope it's the former.

Thank you for commenting here.

Hi Elise, the phone DID come yesterday afternoon, at 4:50pm. I've been playing with ever since and I love the fact that it worked out of the box! Beautiful and thank you very much! I would like to personally thank the person who did set "it" (SIM, account, etc) up for me so when I opened it up, I was good to go! Please Tweet DM me, I would love the chance to say thank you!!!!
