VB6 boxI HATE it when DLLs use properties like methods!  Today I needed Noxzema for how badly burned I got!

VB6 boxOk, back in the late 80s, early 90s, LOTS of people LOVED VB.  Including me!  Yup, I was one of those VBers!  I loved it!  The alternative were pointers...DOH!  I could just never wrap my head around C/C++ double indirection, pointers to pointers to point.........DOH!  POOF went my brain!  VB was awesome, geeks like me could to win forms coding!  COOL!

BUT!  There was no precidence for using properties and methods/functions.  Today, people are just used to the pattern, if you're going to do any logic at all, use a method.  If you're going to get/set something, then a property is great.  The grey area is validation or small bits of logic.  But massive changes are NOT to be in a property setter.

DOH!  Yup, I kept getting burned with that today.  Man, I'm used to it now, so I hope I don't get burned again.  Thanks for fire fighter Sylvain for rescuing me from the flames!

Now that I've vented, it's time to grab a coffee and get coding!

Hi Winston. Although I'm right there with you to fight for your right to code in anything you want, I'm just going to stand here on this one. I love VS and C#, a lot. :> VB was great in it's time, buuuuuuut.......

Thanks for commenting Winston. Have a good weekend.
