Ottawa IT CampTonight, I was done working on my Ottawa IT Camp presentation for this weekend, and I was juuuuust about to bail for some sleep (first time before 2am in a week!) I figured I would check juuuuuuust one more time on the status of my app certification.  YIIPPPPEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!  Check out why I'm so happy, and why I think you should be too!

This Saturday, I'm going to be presenting WP7 Data Binding at the Ottawa IT Camp, and to get prepared, I thought why not create "an app for that."  So I tried my best, and I think it turned out ok (if I say so my self, I hope you agree?).  Here are four of the many screens/pages of the application.

About About

Key points?

  • Lists all the sessions and presenters and presenters are cross referenced from presentations list
  • Algonquin College, Building T bing map
  • 3rd floor plan (not scalable, I know, I know, everyone who tested it tried it, dang :[ )
  • When you navigate away from sessions page, it'll go back there when you come back
  • Has a Twitter feed input (no output unfortunately, not enough time :[ )

More technical geeky things I'm quite proud of?

  • Dynamically querying assembly for version number
  • Newly created art (including new App Bar icons)
  • Supports orientation changes on EVERY page
  • I learned quite a bit about selecting an ListItem, then navigating to another page, AND finding/selecting that presenter!

If you don't have a WP7 phone....uhhh...hhhmm.....how shall I put this delicately?....... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!  Ok, ok, haha, that was mostly for comedic content. haha  But seriously, IF you have a WP7 and are coming Saturday, click on the right (from the computer with Zune) so you can quickly load up the app onto your WP7 phone.  Don't worry, the apps free (thanks to MS increasing the free apps to 100!).

I hope you can use this app for Saturday and if you do, please stop by the WP7 Track!  That's where I'll be hanging out!  Hope to see you there!  Until then, I have a few more demos to prepare for, it's time to grab a coffee and get coding!

Re: Ottawa IT Camp WP7 App Approved Tonight!

Hey Andrew! Thank you very much! Ya, the session went well, I am working on a blog about it, but first thing is to catch up on some sleep (a few too many 3am nights can do that to ya haha). Thanks for commenting/visiting! Have a good week!
