Ottawa Dev Day 2015 is coming! Are you interesting in speaking? We want to hear from YOU!
We’re BACK! Bigger, Bader and Better! Ottawa IT Day 2013 was our last kick at the can, we took a year off, and this year we’re back! We’re back with new energy, a new name and logo, AND a renewed enthusiasm! Announcing Ottawa Dev Day 2015Ottawa Dev Day 2015!
We are gearing up for our 7th year! The tentative date is April 18th, and Algonquin College is again playing host. We’re sending out a call NOW for speakers! This means YOU!
We are looking for development speakers with an itch to show what you got! You have a panache for showing something with Visual Studio? Want to show off something you learned? A cool trick, a hack or just something you KNOW people could use? Then you are OUR kind of people! If you can talk for an hour on your idea, PLEASE submit a session. If you don’t have ALL the details, don’t worry too much, we can work together to hone it. If you DO have all the details, FANTASTIC! Add them all in!
Ottawa Dev Day is a local one day conference BY local devs, FOR local devs, so I have to say preference will goto local developers, BUT, the more interesting your session, the higher your marks can be, and the highest marks win out for getting picked! So please, if you’re interested, submit a session to present! We would love to have you!
The instructions for signing up are simple (the short and looooong versions below, don’t worry the long version is only 5 steps, it’s quick and painless).
Also, if you KNOW of any dev STARS in your company, please forward this onto them. We’re looking up’n’coming stars are are looking to share their knowledge with their fellow devs in the Ottawa area!
Deadline for submissions is March 15th.
CEO Summary:
Easy steps
Yup! That’s it! Simple!
Dev Details
If you’re more inclined to read the instructions (ok, ok, maybe you’re here cause you tried to skip this and ran into a problem? No worries that’s cool! LOL) here are the FIVE, yes, only 5 easy steps (and if you’ve read my blogs before, I’m being generous on the FIVE part LOL).
Step 1– Register yourself on the site

We strongly encourage you to fill out as many of the above details what your publically comfortable with putting out there about yourself. But chances are good, if you’re doing public presentations, you probably have these social sites setup already. Don’t worry, you can always return back to edit if you need to. If you don’t have any of these things… now’s a GREAT time to create or spruce up your LinkedIn, Twitter or blog\websites.
Step 2– Hit the submit button
After you hit the submit button above, you’ll see the screen below telling you that you’re now logged in.
If you’ve done this step correctly (which I’m sure you will LOL), very shortly, you will receive an email from us that looks something similar to this.
Step 3 – Click link for add your session(s)
Next, you’ll need to fill out the details about your indented session….or sessions! Yes, we encourage multiple submissions.
Step 4 – click Add Session to add your details
Step 5 – Fill out your session details and hit the Save button
I have the following suggestions for your session submission.
- Keep you Topic Title short, terse but descriptive and enticing. This is what people are going to quickly scan to see if your session is worth while digging a bit deeper into.
- Use the short description to REALLY JAZZ UP your audience! This is what people are going to read to figure if they’re going to invest an hour with you. This is your time to brag about YOUR idea, YOUR session, brag about YOU and what THEY are going to get out of YOUR session! Give them something to BITE into and get them chomping at the bit to come see you!
Afterwards, if everything went according to plan, you’ll see a Record Saved message (phew! LOL).
You can of course add more sessions by clicking on the Add Session link, and we encourage you to add as many session as as want!
Remember, up above, I said you can log in at some point later and change things? Here’s how you do that. Goto the Speaker page, login, and you’ll see your profile.
If you have ANY questions, please drop me an email (peter.henry@pchenry.competer.henry@pchenry.com).
