In trying to learn things about a new company, new processes, new tools, it's quite overwhelming, so I wrote up two little cheatsheets/cribsheets to help me rememeber key shortcuts for VisualSVN and CodeRush Xpress.  Read on to check them out.

Earlier this month I wrote an article praising CodeRush XPress, and then last week I praised VisualSVN as well.  They are both great tools but memorizing key shortcuts for one tool can be time consuming and two just nasty, especially when you're trying to juggle a new environment, learning about new processes, people, etc!  So until I memorize those keyboard shortcuts, I created some cheatsheets.  Wondering why I'm blogging about this?  Cause when I do memorize them and get rid of them, someday I'm going to want to refresh my memory again, and this way, they're here for all posterity! :>

The CodeRush Xpress one is on the top left and the VisualSVN one is on the top right.  There is still room left for additional shortcuts on the top right one for when the need arises.

If the layout looks odd but eerily familiar all at the sametime, not to worry, it's the NumPad. 

I have Visual Studio mapped to use CTRL+ALT+which ever key on the NumPad shown below.  The hashed out keys are the NumLock and the Del key.  Go ahead, I dare ya to map CTRL+ALT+Del in Visual Studio! :>  Let me know how that goes for ya. :>>>> JK :>  Oh and for the minus key (Collapse Projs = Collapse all Projects in the Solution Explorer will require PowerCommands for Visual Studio 2008.  It's also another great and free tool which gives you some really cool functionality, but I'll let you investigate that one on your own.

And yes, I do see the irony of having PostIt notes for keyboard shortcuts.  But as I mentioned there are plenty of things going on right now and every memory trick helps.  Also, I know with use, these things will eventually just fall off the keyboard in time. :>
